LAST COPIES
Adapted from the Greek Rebetika music of the 1930s, these songs of pickpockets, grifters, refugees and the marginal have never been more relevant.
Lemonaki is our first physical release since the pandemic kicked off, and to mark this occasion a small number of copies have been signed by the band. The album has also been produced in more ecologically sensitive packaging, without shrinkwrapping and reduced use of plastic.
Martyn Jacques says: "These songs are inspired by the street life of Piraeus and Athens. They are songs about pickpockets, murderers, the homeless, drug addiction and loss. What it is like to be at the bottom of society. They come from old Rebetiko music, Greek blues.”
